The Blue Wonder variety belongs to the species Scaevola aemula. It is a herbaceous perennial that is grown as an annual plant in temperate climates. It forms a dense clump of ascending or trailing densely leafy stems from 10 to 30 cm in height.

The flowers have a characteristic fan-like shape and are colored violet-blue with a yellow center. Flowering continues from spring or summer until the first frosts, and the variety is self-cleaning. The plant is resistant to heat and drought; problems with pests and diseases practically do not occur.

The variety is used in ornamental gardening as a trailing crop for hanging baskets, containers, and balcony boxes, as well as a groundcover or border plant in open field.
