The plant forms a neat, thuja-like mound about 30 cm tall. The leaves are broader than those of the wild species, with a blue-green upper side and a steel-blue underside. The spiraling of the leaves gives the bush a grayish tint; some of the leaves are drooping in character.
Flowering begins in March. The initially black spikelets acquire a creamy-beige hue as they mature. The variety is evergreen, possesses winter hardiness and adaptability to various soil types, tolerating both moist and dry conditions after establishment.
Used as a ground cover plant in landscape design, suitable for container cultivation and mixed plantings.
