The variety was created by specialists at the Institute of Biomolecular Chemistry of the National Research Council in Naples. Breeding methods excluding genetic modification were used in the development process.

The fruits have a bright red color and a plum shape. Publications note a high concentration of antioxidants in the fruit composition, which determines their use as a functional food.
