The indeterminate plant reaches a height of two meters or more. The variety is intended for fresh consumption, salad preparation, and culinary processing due to the dense, fleshy structure of the fruits.

The fruits have a characteristic heart shape, often with pronounced ribbing, and can reach a weight of 500–600 g. The variety is mid-season, the fruits are distinguished by a small number of seeds and the peculiarity of ripening from the inside out.

The plant requires mandatory staking and protection from excessive humidity. Modern F1 hybrids, whose characteristics may differ from the traditional variety type, may also be sold under this name.
