The variety originates from the locality of Santa Catalina de San Fiz in the municipality of A Veiga, Valdeorras region, province of Ourense. It was included in the Spanish Commercial Variety Register as part of a local genetic resource conservation program under the auspices of the Galician Quality Agency (AGACAL).
Fruits of this variety are characterized by a trapezoidal shape. Due to the presence of internal cavities and a dense consistency, the fruits are intended for stuffing. Detailed morphological characteristics, such as plant height or maturity, are not recorded in official documents.
