The variety «Wican» is mentioned in official European Union documents as a Solanum lycopersicum L. variety, with its registration having been terminated in 2008. In unofficial lists, the variety is sometimes mentioned as being of Polish origin.

In scientific literature dedicated to the study of tomato resistance to early blight (Alternaria solani), the «Wican» variety was considered as one of the studied genotypes, demonstrating a lower intensity of disease infection compared to the «Red Ball» and «V19» varieties.
