The variety is a heirloom and has existed for over 100 years, traditionally grown in gardens and on commercial lands. The plant forms a vigorous bush 60 to 100 cm in height. The period from germination to harvest is usually 72 to 85 days, although depending on conditions it may increase to 145 days.
The fruits have a dark purple, almost black color with a glossy sheen; their shape is usually oval or pear-shaped. Fruit weight varies from 200–250 g to 1 kg with a length of 15–20 cm. The flesh is yellowish-white, dense and soft. The variety is heat-loving, sensitive to frost, and possesses relative resistance to a number of bacterial diseases.
