AKS 614 belongs to the category of hybrid grain sorghums intended primarily for forage use. The presence of phenolic compounds and tannins in the grain makes the crops resistant to damage by birds, in particular blackbirds.

Due to the tannin content, the forage properties of the grain require the consideration of specific processing methods to increase nutrient absorption by animals. Research notes that the variety exhibits specific fermentation indices in the rumen of ruminants compared to tannin-free hybrids.

In agronomic trials, the variety showed average competitiveness against weeds. In phytopathological studies, AKS 614 served as a subject for studying reactions to sugarcane mosaic virus and maize dwarf mosaic virus.
