The name Bravis refers to the crop Sorghum bicolor. In documents of the International Union for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants (UPOV), the variety is characterized as a plant with high stem height.

The variety is mentioned in 1971 variety testing reports and was also used in laboratory experiments on the effect of seed treatment on germination and productivity. Detailed data on maturity group or disease resistance are absent; the variety is not widely distributed at present.
