The FUMIG8TOR variety is classified as a biofumigant cover crop. Its primary task is soil health management, rather than use as a forage plant.

The plant has the biological capacity to produce cyanogenic glycosides, in particular dhurrin. Upon decomposition of biomass in the soil, these compounds exert an inhibitory effect on nematodes and weeds. At present, the variety is no longer available for purchase.
