The T Bird variety is a spinach hybrid actively used in professional vegetable farming. In scientific literature, it is used as a model specimen when studying resistance to pathogens.

A key characteristic of the variety is high resistance to downy mildew caused by the pathogen Peronospora effusa; specifically, resistance to race 13 of this disease has been confirmed.
