In indoor conditions, the plant usually reaches a height of 50–60 cm; in the wild, it can grow up to one and a half to two meters. The variety possesses the property of nyctinasty, meaning it folds its leaves at night. The plant is sensitive to temperature fluctuations and requires high air humidity.

The variety has an exclusively decorative purpose. In regions with a tropical or subtropical climate, it is used for landscaping shaded areas of gardens and patios.
