The plant is a hybrid of Thymus cherlerioides and Thymus vulgaris 'Compactus'. The variety forms low, dense, carpet-like clumps 10–20 cm in height with narrow aromatic gray-green leaves.
Flowering occurs from late spring to summer with small pink or mauve-pink flowers in dense inflorescences. The variety possesses high winter hardiness and drought tolerance, however, it is sensitive to stagnant moisture in the soil.
