The variety was obtained by breeders Juozas Pivariūnas and Henrikas Černiauskas from a sample of unknown origin. Historically, it was used in Lithuanian agriculture as a component of grass mixtures and for seed production.

Researchers note that the reduced dry matter yield may indicate the variety's suitability for adaptation to less favorable growing conditions. Currently, the variety is considered part of the genetic resources for scientific research.
