The variety is characterized by mid-season maturity and aggressive regrowth due to active stolon spreading, which ensures rapid recovery of sward density. The plant possesses high winter hardiness, resistance to lodging, trampling, crown rust, and rots.
Green mass yield is 300–400 c/ha, dry matter is about 61.9 c/ha. A distinctive feature of the variety is rapid spring regrowth. Due to its ability to fix nitrogen from the air, Barbian is used to improve soil quality as part of grass mixtures.
