The variety belongs to the hollandicum type, which distinguishes it from giganteum type varieties. A distinctive morphological feature of the plants is the absence of a white V-shaped pattern on the leaf surface.

The variety is used primarily as a forage crop, a component of seed mixtures for pastures and lawn coverings, and can also be used as a green manure crop.
