The plant forms umbellate inflorescences of star-shaped or funnel-shaped flowers of cream-white color, sometimes with grayish-green or lilac stripes on the outer side of the petals. The height varies from 30 to 60 cm, most often 40–50 cm. The leaves are narrow, basal, and prone to dying off or yellowing during the flowering period.

Flowering occurs in late spring and early summer, usually from May to July. The plant prefers sunny locations with well-drained soil. In cold climates, digging up the bulbs or winter covering is recommended. The stems are characterized as resilient, and the plant is capable of naturalization.
