The variety is the result of a breeding program conducted with the participation of CIMMYT and possesses a pronounced genetic influence of the rye genome. In scientific literature, it was often considered as a model for studying cytogenetic disorders, including aneuploidy and meiosis characteristics typical for early generations of the crop.
Technological characteristics of the variety, such as threshability and resistance to grain shattering, are inferior to later breeding lines. The variety was used in studies of grain nutritional value when formulating diets for farm animals, particularly pigs and poultry.
