The Sierra de Lobos variety is a genetic sample that is widely used in molecular genetic analyses, including the study of DNA polymorphism and the construction of dendrograms for variety classification. Studies confirm a high degree of its genetic relatedness to the Portuguese variety Alter.

Detailed morphological and agronomic characteristics of the variety, such as plant height, resistance indices, or qualitative grain parameters, are absent in open publications.
