The Valle d'Oro variety is known from agronomic studies in which it was evaluated among other cereal varieties. In documentation from the 1980s, the variety is mentioned in the context of studying susceptibility to yellow rust (Puccinia striiformis) during trials in Central Italy.
As part of verifying compliance with quality standards of that time, the variety participated in baking tests that assessed the dough-forming properties of the grain. The variety is included in official lists and collections of soft wheat, and its cultivation could involve specific agrotechnical recommendations, including restrictions on the use of certain herbicides.
