The variety has a short growing season and is distinguished by a very short straw. In scientific research, it often acts as a reference genotype when studying mechanisms of adaptation to high temperatures during the grain-filling period, nutrient deficiency, and water use efficiency.

In scientific literature, the variety is mentioned as susceptible to yellow rust. Its primary purpose at present is for use as a model specimen for physiological experiments and crop development simulation models.
