The variety Aronas was selected from lines obtained from the CIMMYT center and is a sister line to the variety Cocorit 71. The plant is characterized as short-stature and early-maturing, ripening faster than local traditional varieties.
The variety possesses resistance to lodging and increased tolerance to drought conditions. It is intended for cultivation in the Mediterranean region under both rainfed conditions and with supplemental irrigation, ensuring the formation of large grain with high vitreousness.
