Eiti belongs to the Syrian type (syriacum) group and is of North African or Palestinian origin. In the mid-20th century, this material was actively used in breeding programs, particularly in Italy, for crossing with the Senatore Cappelli variety.
Plants of this type are characterized by intensive tillering, short spikes, and lower height compared to Mediterranean type varieties, usually not exceeding 120 cm. The distinctive features of Eiti also include earlier flowering and early maturity.
