The Gargano variety was developed in the 1990s in Italy. Research shows that the genotype possesses high adaptability and maintains stable productivity indicators under both low and high nitrogen fertilizer application conditions.

The grain quality of the variety meets Italian breeding standards for pasta production. Detailed morphological characteristics of the plant are presented fragmentarily in broad publications, predominantly within the framework of comparative agronomic studies.
