The variety Icaro is a mutant form obtained by exposing seeds of the tall variety Anhinga to fast neutrons. Genetically, the variety is characterized by the presence of the dominant dwarfing gene Rht18, which provides increased expression of the GA2oxA9 enzyme and a reduction in the level of gibberellins in plant tissues.
The plant belongs to short-stemmed types; its average height is about 44 cm, which results in high lodging resistance. Due to its morphological and genetic characteristics, the variety is considered not as an object for mass production, but as a specialized donor of the short-stemmed trait for breeding programs in durum and common wheat.
1 jurisdiction
Green indicates countries where the variety is listed in the national catalogue and its seeds are authorized for sale. Expired registrations are marked separately: the variety was previously admitted, but sale is no longer permitted.
The right is granted for a limited term: propagation of the variety requires a license from the rights holder.
