Tulip Emerald Star belongs to the double late variety class. Plant height is 30–45 cm. The flower is double, peony-shaped, 5–10 cm in size, and has a creamy-green or dark green color with a yellow edge, which becomes more intense in cool weather. There are reports of the variety's ability to produce several flower stalks from a single bulb.

Flowering occurs in April–June. The variety has high winter hardiness (zones 3–4) and stem resistance to wind. Suitable for cutting, maintains decorative quality in a vase for up to 10 days. Used in ornamental gardening for landscaping flower beds, rock gardens, containers, and for arranging bouquets.
