The variety Jan Van Nes Parrot belongs to the parrot tulip group. Large flowers have a characteristic shape with deeply incised, ruffled petal edges. The bud coloration is bright yellow or canary yellow, complemented by greenish veins and streaks along the sides of the petals.

Plant height varies from 35 to 60 cm. Due to the weight and size of the inflorescences, stems may lodge under adverse weather conditions. Flowering occurs during the period from May to early June. The variety is winter hardy, suitable for decorative landscaping and cutting, and is also suitable for forcing.
