The variety Parrot City belongs to the parrot tulip group (Parrot Group) and is a sport that originated from a mutation of the variety Doorman's Elite. The plant possesses the incised, wavy, or ruffled petal margins characteristic of the group.

The flowering of the variety occurs in late spring, in May. The variety is intended for ornamental gardening, including use in flower beds, flower borders, container plantings, and as a cut flower crop.
