The variety is a hybrid developed using Vaccinium darrowii as a genetic bridge for crossing with Vaccinium arboreum. The inclusion of Vaccinium arboreum material provides plant adaptation to soil types in which conventional highbush blueberry grows poorly.

The plant has a narrow crown and an upright bush architecture. The variety has long flower stalks and pedicels, which forms loose clusters and facilitates easy berry detachment during mechanized harvesting. The fruits are characterized by firmness and a small, dry picking scar.
