The plant is a compact, upright shrub 1.5–3 meters in height. The leaves are ovate with a distinct rugose texture, turning burgundy-red and purple-violet in the autumn. Young shoots are distinguished by a reddish hue.
The snowball-type inflorescences resemble a baseball in shape; when opening, the flowers have a greenish tint, which quickly changes to pure white. The shrub produces fruits that change color from red to black, which attracts birds.
The variety is adapted to USDA hardiness zones 5–8 and is intended for decorative use in solitary or group plantings. Flowering occurs in the spring period, usually in April-May.
