The Jõgeva variety received its name in honor of the Jõgeva plant breeding station located in Estonia. It belongs to the Vicia faba var. minor group and is used as an agricultural crop for animal feed production.

In agronomic studies, this variety was used as an object for evaluating productivity and quality indicators, including mineral content.
