The Miranda variety is used as a reference in tests for distinctness, uniformity, and stability (DUS). A characteristic morphological trait of the variety is a very strong intensity of anthocyanin coloration.
The plant is grown for forage purposes, including the production of green mass, hay, and silage. The variety is also used as a green manure crop to improve soil structure and enrich it with nitrogen.
