The Nikian variety belongs to forage legumes. The plant is characterized by good biomass yield indicators and is suitable for cultivation as part of mixed crops with grasses or forage grain crops.

In a number of scientific and technical papers, the variety is mentioned in the context of breeding based on induced mutagenesis methods using ethyl methanesulfonate. The variety appears in European lists of varieties admitted for seed certification.
