The variety is a winter type and is characterized by increased winter hardiness in comparative studies. The plant possesses structural features including a small number of internodes and the lowest number of stems per plant compared to a number of other varieties.

It is used for obtaining green mass and hay, as well as a green manure for soil enrichment. Under conditions of high moisture, it is prone to lodging. The yield of green mass when grown in mixtures, for example with wheat, reaches 35.5 t/ha.
