The Rainer variety is a ground-cover evergreen subshrub. The plant reaches a height of 15–20 cm and possesses green leaves that persist throughout the year.
The flowers are saucer-shaped and have a blue-violet hue. Flowering occurs repeatedly throughout the season, covering the period from March to August, with a pronounced peak in the spring months.
The plant is winter-hardy and adapted to various light conditions, including sun, partial shade, and deep shade. It is used in landscape design for ground cover and weed suppression; however, it is poisonous due to the presence of alkaloids.
The right is granted for a limited term: propagation of the variety requires a license from the rights holder.
