The variety is of Hungarian origin, although precise data on its ancestors is missing. The plant is characterized by vigorous growth; the leaf is medium-sized, round, slightly dissected, with pubescence on the underside. Clusters are medium-sized, cylindro-conical or cylindrical, and of medium density.

Berries are medium-sized, round, black with a thick waxy bloom. Yield is 8–12 t/ha. The sugar content of the juice varies from 18 to 21 g/100 cm³ with an acidity of 6–7 g/dm³. Wines are characterized by a light character, moderate tannin content, and spicy berry aromas.

Resistance to fungal diseases is estimated as medium. The variety is sensitive to growing conditions; under excess moisture, the berries are prone to cracking. There are a number of clones that differ in their flowering, ripening, and yield characteristics.
