The hybrid EC Catamaran belongs to the mid-early maturity group (FAO 220–225). The plant is medium-tall, reaching a height of 300–325 cm during the milk stage.

The variety possesses resistance to lodging, head smut, and is also tolerant to stem and ear Fusarium. Good pollination is combined with high drought tolerance and fast moisture release.

The grain has a flint-dent structure. The starch content in the produce is about 69.8%, protein is about 9.6%.
