The hybrid was developed by DeKalb Genetics Corporation during a period of collaboration with Pfizer Inc. In agricultural research of the early 1990s, it was used in experiments to determine optimal plant density.
Specialized morphological descriptions of the hybrid are absent in open publications. In the instructions for a number of herbicides, the variety is mentioned as sensitive to these products, which requires caution when applying them.
