The LH190 line was obtained by crossing (B68Ht x B73Ht)-S2 with the B73 line. It is not intended for direct cultivation as a commercial crop, but serves as genetic material for producing hybrids.
In scientific research, the line is considered in the context of studying resistance to stalk lodging and fungal diseases, such as leaf spot caused by Phaeosphaeria. It is also frequently used as a model for studying genetic loci, agronomic traits, and flowering time.
