LH63 is a self-pollinated (inbred) line used in breeding work as an intermediate material for creating hybrids. It is not intended for widespread agricultural cultivation or commercial grain production.
In scientific practice, the line is used as a genetic standard or control sample for isozyme analysis and electrophoresis to study genetic diversity. It is also used in research on resistance to Goss's bacterial wilt, caused by Clavibacter nebraskensis.
