The name Ranchero is used in a number of scientific works by Turkish researchers as a designation for a corn variety or line during field experiments. In the course of these studies, yield testing, leaf area modeling, and assessment of susceptibility to corn smut were conducted.
Data on the origin of the variety, maturity group, plant height, and other morphological traits are absent. The variety shows susceptibility to the fungal disease corn smut. There is no reliable information on the registration of this name as a widely distributed commercial variety.
