The XL 75 hybrid was the subject of numerous scientific studies in the 1970s, where its physiological responses to soil salinity, as well as the effect of sodium and magnesium content on plant growth rates, were studied.
During the studies, the hybrid's specific reaction to salt stress was noted, in particular a tendency towards sodium-induced calcium deficiency at the initial stages of development, and yield indicators were recorded when grown on various soil types.
