The variety belongs to the early or very early corn group. It is of great importance for breeding as a source of genetic material for creating new lines and hybrids, and is also used in international protocols as a standard for determining the onset of the milk stage.

The origin of the variety is linked to the adaptation of American Early Golden type corn varieties in Central and Eastern Europe in the late 19th century. Detailed morphological characteristics of the plant and quality indicators of the produce are absent in open publications.
