The KB11 line was developed by the Maize Research Institute in the town of Knezha (Bulgaria). It is not a commercial variety or hybrid intended for commodity production, but is classified as intermediate breeding material.
The object is used in comparative agronomic studies to examine resistance to pathogens, including northern corn leaf blight (Exserohilum turcicum), common smut (Ustilago maydis), as well as stalk and ear rot (Fusarium).
