The PH1C98 line is developed as specialized genetic material for breeding programs. It is not a variety or hybrid for commercial planting, but is used as one of the components when crossing with other lines, for example with the PH1KTF line.
The characteristics of this line are evaluated by breeders exclusively through the lens of combining ability, that is, the ability to transmit certain qualities to offspring when creating new maize hybrids.
