The line PH269A (also referred to as C-PH269A) is used in breeding work to study mechanisms of cytoplasmic male sterility and to research fertility restoration genes.
This line contains the restoring allele Rf4, however, under certain genetic conditions it exhibits sterility properties. Public sources contain no information regarding characteristics typical of commercial hybrids, such as yield or disease resistance.
