The line is adapted to the central part of the U.S. Corn Belt and, when used in hybrid combinations, provides a maturity period of about 110 days. It is characterized by above-average yield and a reduced number of barren plants.
The plant possesses above-average resistance to ear mold, as well as increased stalk and root lodging resistance in hybrids. Compared to a number of other lines, PH705 is distinguished by larger tassels, higher pollen weight, and improved resistance to gray leaf spot.
This material is used exclusively as a parental component for breeding and may serve as a non-GM comparator when conducting comparative genetic studies.
