The Porumbeni 402 hybrid is characterized by a growing season of 116–123 days and a plant height of 210–220 cm. Conical ears 18–20 cm long have 16–18 rows of grains and are attached at a height of 100–110 cm. Orange grains of dent or flint-dent type have a thousand kernel weight of 280–300 g.
The plant possesses high resistance to drought, lodging, stalk breakage, and tolerance to major diseases and pests. The yield potential is 9–10 t/ha with a grain turnout of 82–84%. Protein content in the grain reaches 9.6–12.7%, fat — 3.9%, starch — 67–70%.
