SY Ilanka is a simple hybrid with a growing period of 120–140 days. The plants are characterized by an erectoid leaf arrangement, rapid development at the initial stages, and the formation of a powerful root system. The ears are multi-rowed, the stalks are thin, and the grain is of the dent type and contains 72–74% starch.
The hybrid possesses high resistance to root lodging and drought conditions. The plants exhibit immunity to Helminthosporium blight, root and stalk rots, as well as various types of smut. The variety has high adaptability to various soil and climatic conditions and is suitable for early sowing dates.
