White rot of radish

Raphanus sativus L. var. sativus

A fungal disease of radish caused by the pathogen Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, manifesting as watery rot, cottony growth on tissues, and the formation of black sclerotia.

In the reference 6 varieties crop Radish, where this is mentioned in the description.

The causative agent of the disease is the fungus Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, which infects the root zone, leaves, stems, root crops, and seed plants of the radish. Typical signs of infection include plant wilting, tissue water-soaking, and abundant white cottony mycelium on the surface of the organs.

During the development of the pathogen, dense black structures known as sclerotia form inside or on the surface of plant tissues, serving as survival organs for the fungus. Currently, information regarding specific races of the pathogen for radish, as well as data on specific resistance genes in the crop, is absent in scientific sources.
